Men's Shed Workshop Update

Title: Men's Shed to Host Follow-Up Mental Health Event and Adjusts Tuesday Lunch Pricing

Exciting developments are underway at the local Men's Shed as they gear up for a follow-up mental health morning tea and BBQ on June 4th. Building upon the success of their recent mental health development program, the Shed aims to continue fostering a supportive environment for its members.

The upcoming event aims to bring together participants from the previous mental health program, offering them an opportunity to reconnect and further support each other's mental well-being. With the camaraderie and shared experiences forged during the program, the Men's Shed hopes to reinforce the importance of mental health awareness within their community.

We're thrilled to continue our efforts in promoting mental health awareness and support at the Men's Shed. Our goal is to create a space where our members feel comfortable discussing their mental health and seeking assistance when needed.

In addition to the mental health event, the Men's Shed has announced adjustments to their Tuesday lunch pricing. Due to rising cost-effects, the lunch fee will increase from three dollars to five dollars, effective immediately. Despite the adjustment, members can expect the same high-quality food and service that they have come to enjoy.

"We understand the necessity of this adjustment and believe it remains a reasonable price considering the value and quality of the meals provided at the Men's Shed. "Our priority is to ensure our members continue to receive excellent service while also addressing financial sustainability."

The Men's Shed encourages all members to attend the upcoming mental health event and looks forward to continuing to serve the community with their diverse range of programs and activities.

dawn of time

Review: The Dawn of Time by Victor Kirwan (Vic)

The Dawn of Time is a poignant and thought-provoking short story that delves deep into the complexities of human relationships and societal prejudices. Through the character of Dawn, the author masterfully portrays the struggles faced by those who are perceived as different in a small rural village.

The narrative skillfully captures Dawn's journey from isolation and bitterness to finding solace in an unexpected friendship with Henry, a kind-hearted young man. The story tackles themes of loneliness, discrimination, and redemption with sensitivity and nuance.

As the plot unfolds, the reader is taken on an emotional rollercoaster, experiencing Dawn's highs and lows, hopes and despair. The unexpected turn of events towards the end leaves a profound impact, prompting reflection on the consequences of our actions and the power of forgiveness.

Overall, The Dawn of Time is a captivating tale that resonates long after the final words are read. It serves as a reminder of the importance of empathy, understanding, and the potential for redemption in even the most unlikely of circumstances.

Sunday Markets

Tweed Heads Market: Weathering the Storms with Success.

Despite facing challenges from adverse weather conditions, the Tweed Heads Market has continued to draw a respectable turnout, showcasing the resilience and dedication of our community. Since Christmas, Sundays have often been marred by rain, yet our market has persevered, attracting both new and returning customers.

One significant factor contributing to our sustained success has been the recent addition of a new playground at our park grounds. This family-friendly feature has enticed visitors to explore our market, resulting in an influx of both seasoned patrons and curious newcomers.

Amidst the stalls brimming with treasures, the Tweed Heads Community Men's Shed has played a vital role in bolstering our market's offerings. Their stall, showcasing a diverse array of tools and bric-a-brac, has become a focal point for enthusiasts and bargain hunters alike.

We express our heartfelt appreciation to all stallholders who have braved the elements to set up their stalls each Sunday, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of our market. Additionally, we extend our gratitude to the dedicated volunteers from the Men's Shed, whose tireless efforts ensure the smooth operation of our market.

Thanks to the support of our loyal customers, the dedication of our vendors, and the hard work of our volunteers, the Tweed Heads Market has maintained a modest yet steady stream of income for the shed. As we navigate through the challenges posed by unpredictable weather patterns, we remain optimistic about the future and look forward to welcoming even more visitors to discover the hidden gems awaiting them at our market.

Men's Shed: Building Community Through Projects

In communities around Australia, Men's Sheds have become vital hubs for camaraderie, skill-sharing, and community service. These communal spaces provide a haven for individuals to work on personal projects, but they also serve a greater purpose – giving back to the community through various initiatives.

At the heart of every Men's Shed is a diverse group of individuals, each with their own unique skills and talents. Whether it's woodworking, metalworking, gardening, or any other craft, members come together to pursue their passions and hone their skills in a supportive environment.

However, beyond the individual pursuits, Men's Sheds also engage in projects that benefit the wider community. These projects range from small-scale initiatives to large-scale community endeavors, all aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of others.

One of the core principles of Men's Sheds is their commitment to community service. Members understand the importance of giving back and strive to be a positive asset to their neighbourhoods. This ethos is reflected in the various community projects undertaken by Men's Sheds across Australia.

From building Mud Kitchens for local childcare facilities, to constructing and refurbishing old furniture for members of the public, Men's Sheds contribute their time, skills, and resources to enhance public spaces and promote community well-being. These projects not only beautify the surroundings but also foster a sense of pride and ownership among community members.

Crucially, Men's Sheds operate on a non-profit basis. While they do not charge for their services, they may accept donations to support their project
