With bated breath I'm waiting
to spend the day debating-
all the wisdom of the world
we won't be understating.
I sat by the knee of Old Khayyam
and learned how to curse and damn
fools and false prophets,
the evil and the sham.
To right the problems life proposes
and dance amongst the roses,
to remember past times
as my life swiftly closes.
And rejoice in my memories,
to close my eyes and sink in reveries
of paradises past -
for these my friends, are my legacies.
