Hi Shedders

I am pleased to report that we have had some excellent work and creative projects coming from the Shed.

First up is the wonderful restoration of a clock by Bob Treadwell. I was surprised to learn that Bob, who is a highly skilled wood craftsman, also has the talent and expertise to repair clocks. This particular piece is a Dutch clock, which Bob has fully restored--not only repairing the clockwork mechanism, but also turning new pendulum weights and carefully balancing them by filling them with the precise amount of metal needed to achieve accurate timing. Well done, Bob.

Boxes by Bob James

Next is Bob James, who brought in some of the boxes he has created. Great work, Bob, your projects demonstrate that persistence and a willingness to learn are key ingredients in producing high-quality craftsmanship.

Shed creations continued

I was not able to get more photos this week, but I did see some more free-form art creations from Barry, including his walking sticks. These are truly one-of-a-kind pieces, showing us that not all woodcraft needs to be measured and precise--it can also take on its own character in form and shape.

I also saw that Derek has started a new turning project, creating some beautiful wooden flowers. These pieces are a fascinating blend of organic form and precise craftsmanship. I look forward to seeing his completed work.

Health

I caught up with Paul again this week, and he was in good spirits, enjoying the relaxed pace of recovery. He mentioned that he finally has time to catch up on some good movies. As they say, if life gives you lemons, it's "tequila time".

Upcoming

This coming week we have our monthly committee meeting. It was postponed as Bob, our trusty secretary, was away on a Probus trip and then went straight into a bowling competition. We look forward to his report on both the trip and the bowling.

The committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, straight after the members' meeting. Hopefully we can organise some form of lunch for Tuesday, Barry, we're missing you.

That's all for this week. Have a great weekend.

Cheers

Robin
Vic's Story

Another new exciting story by Victor Kirwan

Way Out West is a touching, character-driven story set in 1901 that explores grief, resilience, and renewal. Lucy’s transformation after her father’s death is portrayed with emotional depth, making her eventual spark of joy feel genuine and uplifting. Linda’s decision to move west provides a gentle turning point, and the ending offers a quiet but hopeful sense that healing is possible.
