General Workshop

There hasn't been a great deal of change in the workshop recently. I've been away for a few days, so I'm not completely up to date with everything, but it's good to see that the usual routine continues. Work keeps coming in and getting done, thanks to the efforts of the team.
Kirk has been doing an excellent job training members on the 3D printer, and the response so far has been very encouraging. We're still working through how everything will operate moving forward, but it's a positive step, and Kirk is handling it all very well.

Keeping Grounded

With the turbulent world around us, it's more important than ever to have a place we can call our own, and for many of us, that place is the Men's Shed. Whether it's the constant noise of local and international politics or the ever-changing cost of living, the world can sometimes feel like it's spinning on an unpredictable cycle.
That's what makes the shed so valuable. It's a place where we can come together, share a conversation, lend an ear, or simply lose ourselves in a project for a while. There's a quiet comfort in knowing that, for a few hours, things can feel steady again.
What truly makes the Men's Shed special, though, is the people. The friendships, the shared stories, the willingness to help one another, it all adds up to something meaningful. We might joke about being a group of cranky old men from time to time, but at its heart, the shed is a welcoming and positive space that serves both its members and the wider community.
In a world that doesn't always slow down, it's reassuring to have something constant - something we can rely on. The Men's Shed is more than just a place; it's a reminder that connection, community, and a sense of belonging still matter.

My life (By Vic)

With bated breath I'm waiting
to spend the day debating-
all the wisdom of the world
we won't be understating.
I sat by the knee of Old Khayyam
and learned how to curse and damn
fools and false prophets,
the evil and the sham.
To right the problems life proposes
and dance amongst the roses,
to remember past times
as my life swiftly closes.
And rejoice in my memories,
to close my eyes and sink in reveries
of paradises past -
for these my friends, are my legacies.

Another new exciting story by Victor Kirwan

Way Out West is a touching, character-driven story set in 1901 that explores grief, resilience, and renewal. Lucy’s transformation after her father’s death is portrayed with emotional depth, making her eventual spark of joy feel genuine and uplifting. Linda’s decision to move west provides a gentle turning point, and the ending offers a quiet but hopeful sense that healing is possible.
